Governor Wolf Visits Fishtown Students at Penn Treaty School
The Penn Treaty School in Fishtown was the site of a gubernatorial visit on Friday, February 12. Governor Wolf chose to visit the school to show his commitment to education reform and balancing the education budget in Philadelphia and the entire state of Pennsylvania as a whole.
“On average, Pennsylvania ranked 45th in terms of the state’s share of funding for education,” Governor Wolf said. “That means for most school districts the local areas and the local taxpayers have to come up with the lion’s share of support. In poor areas they just don’t get the support they need. We need to have an education system that works… I need Penn Treaty and Philadelphia to work.”
