Moyer Street in Olde Richmond to Receive Improvements

Moyer Street in between Aramingo Avenue and Hagert Street isn’t one of those cute little Riverwards side streets. The street is full of potholes and in poor condition. Plants are overgrown at the edges. In general, it is an unattractive stretch of road.

The Olde Richmond Civic Association (ORCA) is spearheading a project to improve the neglected street. In addition to general beautification, the street will be repaved, get new street lines and a bike lane, get a dog run, and have public art celebrating the area’s history installed nearby by a local artist. There will be a community meeting in the fall to discuss the project further. ORCA recently put out a community survey to determine what residents want done to beautify the street.

Improvements are in the works for Moyer Street, but physical work is unlikely to begin for another year. ORCA will be receiving $25k from the Transportation and Community Development Initiative grant, which will be used to hire planning professionals for community development projects. ORCA will also appeal to larger groups for additional funding for the project. The Spirit looks forward to seeing what the final project looks like!
