Paper Business in Bridesburg Goes Up in Flames


On Thursday night in Bridesburg a fire set the John D’ Orazio and Sons Incorporated building ablaze on the 4800 block of Garden Street shortly after 7PM.

The burning building, which is a recycling services and dumpster rental business, had firefighters responding to a three alarm fire by 8PM. The blaze had flames shooting so high into the air that they could be seen above the rooftop.

The Spirit reporter Bob Stewart caught the inferno on his cell phone camera.

According to first responders, there were propane tanks on site. The fire’s location is just one block from Honeywell-Frankford chemical plant.

One firefighter experienced minor injuries as was treated on site.

The fire was subdued by 11:30PM.
