Who Is Accu-Reggie? Also, Your 7 Day Outlook and Forecast

Who Is Accu-Reggie? Getting to know your weatherman.

Reggie Smith, known as “Accu-Reggie,” is the new weatherman for The Spirit. Reggie was born and raised in the Philadelphia area and has been studying the weather for close to 17 years. A complete weather geek, Reggie has a contagious excitement about the weather that naturally led him to share it with others. To this day, a monster Nor’easter that drops 12+ inches of snow on the area is bigger than the Super Bowl to him.

Reggie’s extreme passion for the weather started when at eight years old his fascination with snow led him to investigate all the details about why it snowed. By age 14, Reggie was giving forecasts to family, friends, and non-profits. For the next eleven years he continued to develop his weather forecasting skills and, while in college, launched a Facebook weather page that serves residents along the East Coast, from DC to NYC.

Reggie is a member of the American Meteorological Society, and holds both a bachelor’s and master’s of science degree from Drexel University.

7 Day Forecast

This past Sunday and Monday (7/19 and 7/20) featured the hottest days of the year so far; the highs were in the middle 90s and the low on Sunday didn’t get below 80. That’s just about as hot as we can get around here! Our northern mid-atlantic climate felt more like your favorite Caribbean destination. The sweltering heat will take a break this week as we welcome seasonal temperatures back into the region.

Wednesday will begin a stretch of weather that will be absolutely fantastic for four straight days. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday look like they will be dry each day with SUNSHINE and some clouds around from time to time. Overall, these are beautiful summer days — get out and enjoy them!

Sunday is also nice, however, it will be more humid with the chance for strong thunderstorms in the evening as a front approaches from the west.

Showers could linger on into Monday which looks to be cloudy at least to start the day.

Tuesday rounds out the forecast period with dry conditions but with uncomfortable heat building back up again.

The weather winner of the week is Friday; the weather loser of the week is Monday.
