The Ladies of Port Richmond raise funds to increase Breast Cancer awareness through education; and help fund research to find a Breast Cancer cure in our lifetime.
The idea of raising money for Breast Cancer came about one day at the kitchen table of Mary Lou Leuters, a two-time breast cancer survivor. Mary Lou volunteers her time at Jefferson’s Kimmel Cancer Center and still this was not enough. She wanted to give more; she learned how precious life is.
The group formed and chose the name, “Ladies of Port Richmond” and with the direction of several Port Richmond business neighbors and the hard work of the original Board members, The Ladies of Port Richmond received 501c3 non-profit status.
The outpouring of generosity from local neighborhood businesses, and some not so local, has been heartwarming and most welcome. The commitment of the people who donate their precious spare time is especially welcomed.
