A Glimpse Of Our Remnants

For the uninitiated, artistic dance pieces can be overwhelming. Unlike many other artforms, dance often requires the viewer to be present because, when removed from the live performance, it is merely a cacophony of tangled bodies without much prose. What’s left for viewing after the fact is the constituent parts left behind; photos of grace, coordination and power.

The Spirit had an opportunity to join Olive Prince Dance for a rehearsal session of their Fringe Arts piece “Of Our Remnants,” a mash-up of dance and visual art performed at the Iron Factory (118 Fontain St.) in Kensington.

The piece is a collaboration between choreographer and dance artist Olive Prince, visual artist and writer Carrie Powell and design artist Kaitlin Chow. The event ran to a limited crowd of 40 people each performance for three nights during The Philly Fringe Fest.
