Beware: Door-to-door Solicitors Scamming Fishtowners

There have been numerous incidents in the 26th District, particularly in Fishtown – PSA 3, in which residents have indicated that various unknown persons have knocked on their door to solicit money for an organization, cause, self…etc.
You are encouraged to use caution giving money to strangers or persons representing organizations you are not familiar with or you don’t believe the person actually represents the organization. It is always recommended that you do not give money to “door-to-door” solicitors as this may lead you to become a victim of a crime. As the holiday nears we get an increase in scams, especially against the elderly.
If you believe the person is acting suspicious or is attempting to commit a theft or fraud by falsely representing themselves, please call 911 so that the police can investigate the person.
