FringeArts Dance Performance Comes to Port Richmond

The New Street Dance Group teamed up with the music ensemble The Radical Sound  to produce a show that asks “what are we made of, and just how stable is it?” Called “Structurally Sound,” the performance uses movement, design, and music to explore physical, personal, and social structures, as well as legacies, inheritances, and entanglements.  The performance will have 12 dancers and will feature original dance work choreographed by company directors Krista Armbruster and Shannon Dooling.

Shannon Dooling emphasized that the performance can be enjoyed by anyone regardless with their familiarity with dance. She said in an article from The Dance Journal:

We don’t want to create dance just for dancers. If we want to build up the audience for dance, we have to make work that will bring a diverse group of people to our performances – and keep them coming back! Collaborating with musicians is great because not only does live music help draw new audiences, but having a set of “non-dance” eyes on the rehearsal process can bring a new perspective to the work.

The performance is taking place on Saturday, September 19 at 3:30 and 7:00 PM at the Lithuanian Music Hall at 2715 E. Allegheny Ave. Tickets are $15 with student and festival discounts available.
