The annual Memorial Day Parade returned to Bridesburg this past Monday. The parade started in 1947 and has continued ever since. Charles Hesser fought in the Korean War and attended the event, although he prefers to think of those who were not able to come back from the war when Memorial Day comes around.
To me, it’s not about the living. I appreciate that I am here but there are so many that aren’t here that should be here today. [The sorrow] doesn’t get any better.
