Penn’s Garden Development News (November 16, 2016)


Brewerytown

   Earlier this year, two new homes were constructed on the 1200 block of North Etting Street in Brewerytown. One sold for $340,000, the other for $345,000. The same developers received approval in May to build an additional five homes on the block, all of which are currently under construction. Around the corner, on North Pennock Street, another pair of homes is going up.pg_dev_news_nov_16_3

Logan Square

   Orens Brothers will be constructing a five-story, 32-unit mixed-use building at 1823 Callowhill Street. Wulff Architects has designed the new building and has recently released renderings of the project. The structure previously on site was demolished sometime this past year. It had functioned as an orphanage and as the home of the Children’s Crisis Treatment Center. Elizabeth Fleisher, the supposed first female architect in Philadelphia, designed the building.pg_dev_news_nov_16_1

Francisville

   An eight-story mixed-use building will be constructed at 836 North Broad Street in Francisville next to Uhuru Furniture and Collectibles. Developers purchased the property about a year ago for $475,000. The project will include 31 total parking spaces in the basement and on the first two floors.pg_dev_news_nov_16_2

   The property at 839 North 20th Street has been put on the market for $525,000. Papi Deli Grocery is the current first-floor tenant; their lease expires at the end of the year. A pair of two-bedroom apartments constitutes each of the building’s upper floors.pg_dev_news_nov_16_5

Loft District

   Arts and Crafts Holdings has purchased the Citizens Bank branch at the intersection of Ridge Avenue and Spring Garden Street for $1,550,000. It is uncertain for how much longer the bank will remain open. Craig Grossman, one of the partners of Arts and Crafts Holdings, refused to discuss the future of the property. pg_dev_news_nov_16_4
