Clowns parading from bar to bar down Frankford Avenue may sound like a nightmare to some, but for the past five years, that’s what people have been doing at the annual “Clown Crawl.” The drinking event gives people the chance to dress up and paint their face while hitting as many local watering holes as possible along the way.         

“It’s fun, you’re wearing somebody else’s face,” said Patrick “Clowney McClownface” Kelly, the founder and organizer of the bar crawl. According to Kelly,  he and a few friends were clowning around over some beers when they came up with the idea.

The crawl has seen an uptick in attendance each year and hopes to continue to attract new people looking to let loose on a Sunday afternoon.
