The Roots to be Inducted Into Philadelphia Music Walk of Fame

So, if you were at Saturday’s (5/30) Roots Picnic–just south of our coverage area at Festival Pier in Penn’s Landing–you already know that Philly native hip-hop group and Tonight Show band, The Roots, announced they’ll be inducted into the Philadelphia Music Walk of Fame in a ceremony at the new Fillmore Philly Venue in Fishtown on October 26.

The Roots first tasted success in 1999, when their hit, “You Got Me,” featured R&B vocalist Erykah Badu and earned a Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group. The rest, as they say, is history.
