Fishtown Police Chase Ends With Suspect Getting Hit By Car

At around 10:25 AM on Friday morning, Philadelphia Police received a call that a yet-to-be identified white male allegedly pulled a knife on a man in a car. After receiving the call, a 26th District officer spotted the suspect at the intersection of Susquehanna and Gaul, right across from the Spirit News office. An on-foot pursuit quickly ensued.

The suspect, running at high speeds, took a right turn from Gaul on to Hewson Street with the police officer and members of Spirit News staff quickly in tow. At one point, the officer in the pursuit yelled out at the suspect: “You better stop, a**hole!”

The chase ended in the intersection of Hewson and Cedar when the suspect was hit by a car going the wrong way up the one-way street. Coincidentally the person behind the wheel  was the same individual who made the initial call about having a knife pulled on him. The suspect didn’t appear to be injured by the collision. He was placed into the back of a police police car and taken into custody.
