The Igloo is Bringing A New Fro-Yo Location to Fishtown

The Frankford Avenue business coordinator continues to grow as a destination for culinary variety in Fishtown with the arrival of The Igloo — a frozen dessert shop that offers frozen yogurts, sorbets, gelatos, Italian ice, homemade pops, shakes and frozen pints. They do so in a healthy and natural fashion by removing all excess milk fat from their products and using only,

“fresh fruit, whole and locally produced ingredients, compostable cups and recyclable spoons.”

The Igloo will be opening up at 1514-16 Frankford Avenue on March 1st of next year.  The storefront will be joining the company of La Colombe, Joe’s Steaks and Soda Shop and Stephen Starr’s Frankford Hall and Fette Sau.

The Igloo currently has two Philadelphia locations: one in Center City near 12th and Walnut Streets and the other in South Philly at 2223 Grays Ferry Ave. The Center City location will close down on November 25 as the move is made into Fishtown.

Owner Zac Parker believes Fishtown will be a good match for the Igloo.

“It’s going to be a neighborhood that works really well for us,” Parker said in a Philadelphia Business Journal article. “We tend to get a lot of repeat customers in the neighborhood versus a foot-traffic area where people stay in hotels.”
