Aramingo Avenue Southbound Ramp to I-95 Will Be Temporarily Closed

In a press release, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced the Aramingo Avenue on-ramp to I-95 South at the Betsy Ross Bridge Interchange will close down temporarily on Monday, December 21, 2015.

The portion of the Aramingo Avenue ramp that connects to I-95 north will remain in use during construction. The entire on-ramp will reopen in September 2016 after it is widened.

The closure is part of a $160.2 million reconstruction project aimed to “rebuild ramps and improve connections.” The Aramingo Avenue renovations will be completed jointly by Driscoll Construction Company and Richard E. Pierson Construction Company.

PennDOT released different detour routes for trucks and passenger vehicles:

Trucks normally using the Aramingo Avenue on-ramp to reach I-95 south at the Betsy Ross Bridge/Aramingo Avenue Interchange will be detoured south on Aramingo Avenue, left at Castor Avenue, right at N. Delaware Avenue, right at Allegheny Avenue, and then left at the on-ramp to I-95 south.”

Passenger vehicles will be detoured south on Aramingo Avenue to the on-ramp to I-95 south from Aramingo Avenue at the Girard Avenue Interchange.

The renovation of the Aramingo Avenue ramp is part of a three-contract renovation plan funded entirely by federal dollars. One of the other projects is the renovation of the Girard Avenue northbound slip-ramp, which was closed last week.
