According to CBS Philly, two Philadelphia police officers from the 24th  Police District were caught sleeping on duty last weekend. Pictures of the the dormant cops were posted onto social media.

Lt. John Stanford said he, “… believed [it happened] Friday night into Saturday morning.”

Parts of Kensington and Port Richmond lie within the coverage area of the 24th Police District where the officers were seen sleeping in their vehicle.

Stanford assures the community that, “The investigation is underway and appropriate disciplinary action will take place,” He explained that this sends the wrong message to citizens of Philadelphia.

“This paints everyone with that broad brush and putting that message out there that we’re not doing our jobs.”

Furthermore, Stanford says if someone had planned on harming the officers they put themselves at risk by not being aware of their surroundings.
