UPDATED: Double Shooting Leaves One Dead in Kensington


A double shooting in Kensington left one victim dead Wednesday morning. Gun shots rang out on the 1800 block of Monmouth Street, near Kensington Avenue. Police say two victims were injured in the shooting and that one of the victims passed away at the hospital.

There was one resident crying on a nearby stoop when The Spirit got to the scene of the crime. She explained how she was in her home around the corner, watching her children, when she heard gunshots and ran outside. The resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said that the victims were her niece and someone who the resident described as her niece’s “boyfriend.” The resident said that the male victim, who she identified as “Richie,” was the one who died.

The first victim is a 19-year-old woman who was shot once under the arm. She was taken to Temple University Hospital and her current condition is unknown.

The second victim is a 21-year-old man who was shot once in the chest. He was transported to Temple University Hospital and pronounced dead at 11:39 AM.

A report by CBS3 has clarified some of the details surrounding today’s shooting shooting.

According to police the first victim is a 19-year-old female. She was shot once under the arm, was taken to Temple Hospital and is in unknown condition.

According to officials the second victim is a 21-year-old man. He was shot once in the chest. As we reported earlier the victim was taken to Temple Hospital and pronounced dead around 11:39 a.m.

No word on a motive or suspect at this time.
