Robber Asked a Man in Kensington For a “Loosey,” Then Shot Him


Police are on the lookout for the gunman who robbed, shot and critically wounded a 29-year-old man in Kensington just before 10 p.m., Tuesday night, on the 3100 block of Emerald Street.

Police report the victim was having a conversation with another 29-year-old male, when an unknown black male walked up and asked them witness for a “loosey,” or a cigarette.

Before either could respond, the assailant pulled out a handgun and told both males to get on the ground, then took the victim’s wallet out of his back pants pocket and shot him twice.

The male then ran northbound toward Allegheny Avenue. The victim was transported to Temple University Hospital, where he remains in critical condition with wounds to the stomach. The other 29-year-old male in the victim’s company escaped unharmed.

Police released the following description of the gunman: Black male, dark complexion, white t-shirt with black writing on it, blue jeans, sneakers, 5’11” – 6’0”, 180 – 200lbs, medium build, and black handgun. Please call the police station with any information.
