Hometown Heroes: Local Kids Aid Police in Finding Missing Child

The following was sent to The Spirit from Sgt. John Massi of the 26th Police District highlighting two young men from the Riverwards who went above and beyond in helping the police find a missing child yesterday:

[On Oct. 15], an upset mother came into the 26th Police District to report her 10-year-old son missing.  He had walked off from her in the area of Thompson & Palmer St.  This is every parent’s nightmare.  The 26th Police District immediately mobilized in an effort to find this child and return him home safely.

I had the pleasure of finding these two helpful saints from Alexander Adaire Elementary School.  I showed them a photo of the missing boy and both students recognized him.  I asked them to call 911 if they see him.  These two young men immediately went looking for this child. Within ten minutes they called 911 to let us know they had found the missing boy.  They stayed with him until our officers arrived and the child was returned home unharmed.

I just wanted to recognize Sean (14, left) and David (10, right) for an outstanding act of community service.
