Paws and Awws: Abandoned Pit Bulls Rescued from Port Richmond Scrap Yard
Things are looking up for a pair of adorable pit bull puppies who were left stranded at a PGW scrap yard thanks to a Port Richmond resident who alerted the area via social media.
According to FOX Philadelphia, Michelle Barbee was with her fiancée when she saw the pups in the scrap yard and then put their location up on her Facebook profile. That was the catalyst.
Enter Heather DeMar, who was obviously hit in ALL THE FEELS (…all of them).
She rescued one of the puppies Monday night but couldn’t get to the second—it had gotten itself wedged under a dumpster. That was when DeMar got PGW involved and about a dozen employees came out to find and rescue the second doglet in distress.
Okay, but the best part of the story? Both puppies can be yours!
Saved Me Adoption Center took over and told FOX the puppies are about 6 months old and are healthy. They’ve been vaccinated, dewormed and will be spayed so they’re ready for someone to welcome them into their home.
They named the pups “Tioga” and “Venango,” after where they were found in Port Richmond. Any Riverwards businesses need a couple new mascots? Let’s get these two rescued.
