Photos: The New Five Sisters Patio at Front and Norris Is The Bees Knees, Hookah Lounge Coming Soon

You may have read our story a while ago about Five Sisters, the Middle Eastern ice cream shop that opened under the El at Front and Norris Streets earlier this year. It’s really good, both the ice cream and the story.

Well the good just got even better.

Over the past several weeks, you may have noticed some construction going on at that little patch of concrete we all used as a shortcut to get the Berks stop when walking up Norris. What was being constructed is arguably the best patio that any dining establishment in the neighborhood currently has to offer.

The Spirit spoke with one of the five sisters, Azhar Ahmed, who gave  us a tour of the new patio. It currently features a gorgeous pond with 20 Koi fish, pretty flowers and “mom’s garden with tomatoes and melons.” She also mentioned that a canopy and hookah area will be finished “ASAP.”

The new digs also have a pet station where you can tie your dog (or pig) up and let him or her drink some water while you eat a falafel or rolled kunafa.

Here’s what the area looked like before construction:
