Riverwards F.C. Mud Dogs

Annually, for the past three years, players from the community have participated in the Ocean City, Maryland, St. Patrick’s Indoor Soccer Tournament.  The tournament is hosted by Ocean City’s Recreation & Parks Department and it draws some of the best indoor soccer teams in the mid-Atlantic region.  This year, your neighborhood U14 RiverWards F.C. Mud Dogs, pictured above, represented our community very well and made it to the elite 8 from a pool of 22 teams.  The team lost in the quarterfinals to the eventual champions, RSC Express.  We would like to thank the Ocean City tournament officials for our acceptance into their well-run tournament and for the extraordinary hospitality that has been displayed toward our team.

More recently, the team was split into two teams to compete in the Philadelphia Parks & Recreation (PPR) Indoor Soccer Program.  One team played in their appropriate U14 age group.  The U14 team played very well and finished the season as semifinalists with a record of 7 wins, 4 losses, and 2 draws.  The other team “played up” in the U15 division that included four games against U16 teams.  The team managed to record two victories against these teams and finished with a record of 8 wins, 3 losses, and no draws, including a victory in the championship game over Feltonville White on March 25, 2012.  We would like to thank the PPR and its officials for organizing the Indoor Soccer Program, and giving our neighborhood youth a much needed athletic opportunity.

All of the boys on the team will be starting high school in the fall.  We wish every one of them continued success on the soccer pitch, but more importantly, we wish them success in every future endeavor.  Also, we’d like to thank our parents, sponsors, and spectators for supporting us for the past four years.
