Suspect Caught in May Shooting of Kensington Resident

Kensington resident Steven Justiniano was gunned down on the evening of May 15 and succumbed to his chest wound about 30 minutes after SEPTA police found him lying face-down in a gutter at Front Street and Susquehanna Avenue.

The prime suspect in his murder was taken into custody on Wednesday.

Jonathan Peralta, 25, has been charged in Justiniano’s murder, along with other firearms violations. Investigators told The Philadelphia Daily News that an argument prompted the shooting, although it’s unclear, as of yet, what the two men were fighting about.

Peralta, a Frankford resident, is not without a record, having pleaded guilty to criminal conspiracy and firearms violations in 2007. He served a prison term, and according to The Daily News, was still on probation when Justiniano was killed.
