Upcoming Travel Restrictions on I-95 and Aramingo Ave.

Late-night motorists: beware of the bright lights, bulldozers, hard-hatted men and orange traffic cones.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced considerable travel restrictions on I-95 and Aramingo Ave. due to nocturnal construction on the Girard Ave. and Betsy Ross Bridge/ Aramingo Ave. interchanges. The project aims to ameliorate the respective interweaving ramp systems and widen the three-plus miles of highway lying between them.

On Monday, November 16, and Tuesday, November 17, I-95 northbound will converge into two lanes by the Girard Ave. interchange from 10 PM – 5 AM in order to facilitate the establishment of an overhead sign.

On Friday, November 20, I-95 will be reduced (in either direction) from three lanes to two from 10 PM to midnight, and then further lessened by one lane until 5 AM the following morning by the Girard Ave. interchange to accommodate the deconstruction of an overhead sign.

The northbound and southbound lanes of Aramingo Ave. will be closing on an alternating basis at the I-95 entrance between Wheatsheaf Lane and Church Street by the Betsy Ross Bridge/ Aramingo Ave. interchange from 8 PM – 5 AM Monday through Friday (November 16- 20) due to the demolition of a portion of one of the system’s ramps.

Good luck to all the night owls!
