Richmond Street Closures on Thursday and Friday
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDot) has announced the closure of Richmond Street near Ann Street where I-95 passes over the road from Thursday to Friday. The closure will go into effect 12:01 AM Thursday morning and will reopen at 4:00 PM Friday afternoon.
As discussed in late November, the construction of I-95 continues. The road closures began in early December with the closing of the slip ramp onto I-95 on Girard Avenue.
This will not affect local traffic traveling between Allegheny Avenue and Indiana Avenue.
Drivers will be detoured west onto Allegheny Avenue to reach Aramingo Avenue, south on Aramingo to turn onto Lehigh Avenue, and east on Lehigh Avenue to return back onto Richmond. These are the same traveling directions, but in reverse, for drivers traveling north on Richmond. The driver can return onto Richmond after making it to Allegheny Avenue.
The closures are to construct concrete beams where I-95 is above Richmond Street. PennDot wants drivers to know that these beams are the first of many that will go into place for I-95.
Keep a look out for more information regarding future closings for this project.
